I pull in quite often and I started my 35th year in January, and I certainly know how to back up. The reason I pull in is I have been backed into 3 times and one was over $19k in damage. I would much rather my trailer gets hit then my tractor. Of course I would rather not get hit at all...

Pulling in sounds all well and good, until the make-a-spot crowd shows up.

Sure don’t miss driving that truck with the bedroom hanging on the back of the cab!
Driving a day cab my only complaint is if there is only a Motel 6 to stay at. Only 24 channels on the TV.

    Numb Thanks this.

I don’t do truckstops but if I did, I would head in. Why, to many idiots(new generation) don’t understand “Tail Swing”. As far as backing out, it’s only common sense not to be in a hurry and have the right away individuals be courteous to stop. It’s called old school basics.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

I like the Aholes with wide pipes and Jake's that activate with the release of the fuel pedal.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

Don't all jakes come on with the release of the throttle? How else would they come on?

The normal parameter is with the brake pedal.

I’ve never had one that activated with the brake pedal, that’s since 1997.

CAT you can change the Jake with ET. You can set it to only come on with brake pedal if the cruise is on (doesn’t have to be set) or you can have it come on when it coast.

As far as retreating I am not good at that, know nothing about it and prefer not to do it.
