I’ve seen a total of ONE truck like that ever, and that was a Scania.
In every truck since, the engine brake activated with letting off the go pedal.Bean Jr., Numb, Sons Hero and 1 other person Thank this. -
Most will use it with cruise on as well.
-
Every truck I've driven.
Cruise or no cruise.
My current however. IF IT FEELS LIKE IT. Will activate after about 3 seconds. If it feels like it.
The last truck I recently drove. Required 30 mph + to work.
One truck I drove. Wouldn't work in the low gears.RockinChair Thanks this. -
Many options available for Jake activation but ALL require the throttle to be let off.
Mine is set to only come on when I tap the brakes and will stay activated until I touch the throttle again.gentleroger Thanks this. -
That would be just wonderful on those 12% grades in Pennsylvania.

I'd rather have some noise than absolute silence.

Couple things here:
I saw a Steven’s nose into a spot, in the middle part of a row facing a curb. He actually expected the guy on my right and myself to move so he could back out. We both said no.
Why? Because we felt since he got himself in that mess he can get himself out of it. I don’t what happened after I left.
I get pulling into a spot, and have done it a few times. I only did it when I was running with a friend of mine and we could just do a pull thru.
I have had guys pull in on both sides of me, and one of them blocked my left side door from opening up, thankfully the truck on my right left me enough room to be get out.RockinChair Thanks this. -
The International I drive had it where you had to step on the brake to get the jake to come on, Was really irritating. When it was in the shop at the Stealershup for something the company got them to change it to operate the right way, when you let off the throttle.

Things like the cruise control and the jakes can all be adjusted to fit. My truck, a 99, had a soft cruise. Drove the truck for years and didn’t know it. When I had the engine built up, and the ECM reflashed, I was explained the soft cruise. My dumb arse told the tuner to get rid of the soft cruise. The first time I hit resume was scary. Full throttle, 100%. Felt like one of those stuck throttle Toyota moments.
The Jake can be programmed to come on any way you want it to. Like if you set the cruise to 70 and start coasting faster downhill. They can set it to come on in stages at whatever speed you want after coasting past the set speed.kemosabi49, Diesel Dave and snowwy Thank this.
