Ok, I understand now. My personal preference is to have my eyeballs (and my pivot point, the kingpin, and my steering wheel) closer to the front than to the back. Backing blindly out of a spot, with the added joy of having less maneuvering room because my steers are still in the hole just isn’t any fun.

My FLD was 280” wheelbase and I pulled a 52ft trailer with the axles at the back. If my back trailer axle was at the curb that meant my entire sleeper, cab, and hood were sticking out passed the typical truck backed in with their tandems ahead.
Back then I mostly ran the same areas and knew where I was stopping and what parking spots I wanted when I got there. Some places had butt to butt parking but a couple spots might have light poles on the other side so you can back in deeper. Some places had fairly level grass behind the curb so I could lift up my flaps and back the rear axle over the curb and then stop when the front axle of my spread was at the curb. But sometimes the best option was to nose in to protect the truck instead of being a sitting duck sticking out 12ft past everyone else.
Now I have other reasons for nosing in and it cracks me up how many people need some butthurt cream because of it.Deere hunter, tarmadilo and mslashbar Thank this. -
For those that can get in and out with no issue, park any darn way you want, for whatever reason you want. -
If you back in, you can pull out, if you pull in you can't necessarily back out.
I don't particularly care if someone else noses in, as long as they don't bug me, it doesn't matter to me. -
