This was a big union shop and for whatever reason, they didn't want him on their lot unable to understand commands just in case some kind of freakish parking lot emergency came up. Yes, I'm serious.

 

I've seen more of them that are pretty bad drivers than good, and always in a rush.

DPS should weed a lot of them out unless they're being told to look the other way.

 

I just carry two sets of coveralls to deal with the long sleeve/pant issue during summer. Always steel toed boots though, even with shorts.

What gets me is some facilities I've come across wanted a specific color hard hat. I've an orange one, told me I couldn't wear it in as visitors were to wear white. They claimed they "disinfected" them. I told them unless I watch them take it out of a sealed plastic bag, they were going to have to deal with my orange one. Turned into a real pee-pee contest. I told my boss what was going on and he actually ended up pulling me out of there. He thought it was asinine as well.

 

So you're saying carry a hot pink hard hat and low-viz vest at all times. Gotcha.

 

But I LOVE Pink!!!
I drive reefer and with the exception of a hard hat, I've carried the rest with me from day one, to include full rain gear and rubber boots.
BTW, did you know hard hats expire? I used to work at a place and I would sometimes have to put on a hard hat if I had to go to certain areas. Not often, but occasionally. I had a hard hat for years and then one day our safety guy takes a look at it, laughs and tells me it expired over 5 years ago (I worked at that place for 23 years).
Anyway, inside the brim is a little round sticker looking thing. I forget how to decode it, but it let's you know the date the hard hat expires.
