I met a driver today and he told me that company drivers have to pay for their own load locks and chains?
Seriously....?
Please tell me this isn't true...

Smith Transport charged me a $500 dollar escrow when I was a company driver and I only got $299 back. Best paycheck I got there was $700 a week because I didn't go home for time off on the weekend

If you look at some of the other trucking companies out there, you'll see the company drivers trying to sell chains, load locks, spare tires, anything they can sell that they can turn around and get replaced without anyone noticing to make extra money because they get paid next to nothing and need the money to get food, phone home, pay rent, keep the lights on for the wife and kids at home.
Which of those two scenarios seem like the better one? Prime pays there company drivers very well, treats them like family, and has expectations of YOU to be a PROFESSTIONAL DRIVER not some kind of street rat living in a tin can. I had no problem paying for my load locks, chains. I'll tell you what though, they are secured on my truck and I'll keep an eye on them becaus they belong to me.
It's that kind of company thinking that keeps Prime's equipment and culture in very good shape and always looking clean and sharp.darthanubis, moose97, Argent and 5 others Thank this. -
All the carriers have different ways of getting theirs. The system is set up for them, not the driver. The driver is just a means of steady cash flow. Just listen to all off the ads on the sat radio. They offer little trinkets to entice the driver who does not have sat tv or the newest equipment. Who do you think is paying for that. You!!! You just have to roll with the good and the bad. All companies are pretty much the same. The pie in the sky is not for us, it is made up.
