Sapp Bros normally has these kits. I've used it at least a half dozen times, and have never had issues. Generally, a puncture that won't hold a plug has damaged the belts to the point I wouldn't trust a patch either.

The added bonus is not having argue with a tire monkey about how close to the sidewall the repair is, trying to push a tire sale. Plus missing out on the hours of waiting it takes to get a repair done.

this one is all metal, you can jam two or three plugs in at once (if u strong enough!) for a really tight plug and it won't break with all your weight on it, and there's a depth stop so you can't push them all the way through by accident. i had a screw buried under a knob that wouldn't even come out with vice grips, this thing got two plugs in alongside the screw and it held pressure for another 6 months. 30 bucks can't beat it. if you plug it in the cold make sure to watch tire pressure if it starts to get warm again, if you go south and it gets warm and u don't let out some pressure they can pop loose again. just shove them on through and pop two more in

Had a discussion like this about a nail hole on my car tire about 30 years ago; mechanic said it was too close to the sidewall, wanted to sell me a new tire. I went out and bought a plug kit, and that tire lasted me for 7 years.

Not necessarily looking for a quick tire sale. Reputable shops follow the repair guildes set forth by the Rubber Manufacturers Association. You can get a repair chart here:

I drove over two years on a plugged Michelin drive tire. No issues.

I'll get a plug to get down the road. Works in a pinch for sure. I work in south texas and with the heat and the unit sitting for two days on the weekend, I don't even bother with recaps. I am a company driver who works for a small mom and pop and when I shout I need new tires, I get new tires. YMMV here.

Sorry if someone already said this.I don’t think any tire shops will plug tires anymore they will patch it . I don’t know why you would get rid of a good tire because of a nail or screw hole. I have plugged my own tires many times never one issue you do need a good plug kit and you have to catch it b4 it goes flat and bead comes loose from the wheel .
