I can’t zoom in much on my phone but that stuff almost looks like it’s not sanded or finished on the edges. The stuff we hauled was mostly hardwood veneer used for cabinets and such. We didn’t haul much of that sheathing material.

Nice strap job OP. Nothing needs changed there imo.
When you start hauling longer 2x lumber youll be adding more belly straps. 10- 12ft throw 2, 16ft toss 3. Take those belly numbers and add 1. Thats how many top straps NC wants. Lots of guys dont but whatever. If you got em use em. No strap protection needed on lumber unless its to protect the wood.
Youll be okay winching lumber all to one side. Bagged material, foam insulation, pipe and wire mesh youll really want to offset bind.cke and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
How about kiln dried lumber? Do they stack that inside? Or do they not kiln dry their lumber up there?cke and MartinFromBC Thank this.
-
Both kiln and not...kiln gets wrapped in their plastic and its stapled on...then stacked outdoors...to store it indoors would be an awful large building.
-
Stolen from Google pics but these are sawmills in bc near me pics...as you can see each bundle is wrapped...very common to see that...and means it was kiln dried 99% of the time.

Same way idaho timber does theirs, then distributes by train.

I think the strap can cinch down more evenly if there is edge protection. It tends to pull things together better and not hang up on the edges. More noticable if it is loaded with gaps in between the units.cke and FoolsErrand Thank this.

The local mills all use the same rules for strapping, 3 straps on 10 foot and less bundles, 12 and 16 footers get 4 straps, 18 and 20 and 22 to get 5 straps, 24 footers get 6 straps, all must have edge protection. They don't cut longer than 24 footers, except our custom cut mill, he will do anything up to 46 feet long, and timbers up to 18 inches by 26 inches. He will be doing custom timbers for my next house out of cedar. I have been storing up the cedar logs I plan to use for years, have amassed a huge pile. It will be a hybrid timber frame home, the wood is all red cedar, and larch.
cke and FoolsErrand Thank this. -
Id add an x-strap to the front. Never know when you might have a sudden stop and dont want the load to leave the trailer.cke Thanks this.
