With a new CDL license your previous record follows you. We were thinking about moving to New Mexico, and they looked up everything on our license from California. Even though in some states it's legal to smoke pot, it's not LEGAL FEDERALLY! Nor is it legal for a Professional Commercial Driver, according the DOT Regulations. There might be some companies out there that might hire you after 3 years if it wasn't a felony, 7 years if it was. Good Luck, hope things work out for you. Really, if your dream is to drive a truck, you should think about what is more important, the drug, or a job.

There are some companies that hire guys with felony records & some right out of prison and completion of a CDL school. Sublime312 can't do anything unless he leaves Michigan, otherwise he's stuck for the next 3 years.

Interesting. well by the sounds of it, time is the only thing that will take care of this. Pretty ###### for one small mistake such as a little bit of pot.

The small company I was with in PA would hire you, and possibly get you your cdl. They have kept drivers that failed a random after they do a month of rehab ie. sit at home and clean out, and a clean test. Course this company will have you running illegal with loose leaf logs too so what's a little pot to them.

better sort that out, it is cut & dry as a fundamental of the job, one way or another

no such thing as one small mistake, not only when it comes to a little bit of pot and trucking, but includes a ton of other stuff as a fundamental part of the job

one small mistake at anytime, and it (driving) could be over, as the least of your problems
