That's what these training companies do. They say, "oh yeah you'll get a swell trucking job when you graduate from here. It pays good". Come to find out you have to start off with the rookie companies which is risky because they will try to make you run unsafely and pay you low cpm or barely give you any home time. Point is I went to a CDL school and got 160 hours and STILL could not get an average trucking job. I have to start off the same at one of these rookie companies. I feel like I am gambling or something.

I agree with @Chinatown here. I also worked whatever job I ever had to and I also now do not work. There is no job beneath you if you are wanting to provide for you and/or your family. At least, that's the way I was raised. ;)

Whoa, what happened to never being unemployed because you take what you can get at the time?. ;)

Swift is still on my list, though admittedly quite far down. Not sure I will reach the point where I am considering Carolina Cargo.

what's the point driving for a bad company when chances are great you won't last long? Might as well stay unemployed and keep looking. Then considering what Carolina pays how on earth are you going to get the bills paid and live on the road? The op can do better then that and deserves better.you're known for reccomendkng a lot of good companies so dont give him the worst. companies

50 hours doesn't qualify for any experience in this industry.you're still considered a student.I would go back to school and get the reccomend hours.See the companies you have applied to doesn't recognize that school.I think all companies require at least 160 hrs because of insurance reasons.

He asked me if I would rather be unemployed than drive for Swift. My answer is, I've never been unemployed in my life, so I will drive for anyone if I had to. Can't explain it, but I have this thing about being unemployed and just refuse to be unemployed. Started working when I was about 13 or 14 doing odd jobs, mowing grass, delivering newspapers, pumping gas, bagging groceries, because I didn't want to ask my parents for money even though they would have gladly given it to me. Bought my first motorcycle at about 15 with my own money. That's just me.
