I know this has been dead for like 2 months, but I was wondering if anyone had anything new on Bulkmatic?? I filled out the short application on their website today. Hope to hear from them Monday- or I am going to call and ask about it.
Here's a few questions:
What power do their trucks have?
What transmissions?
What kind of home time?
Do you park at a terminal, or can you bring the truck home for home time? I live a ways from Chattanooga terminal (which would be closest).
What does the Chattanooga terminal primarily haul, food or plastics? (Doesn't really matter, just wondering).
How is the Teutopolis, IL terminal? This doesn't really matter either, but I have family there (my mom and dad live about 30 miles south). My dad used to haul flour out of Seimer's years ago in 50# bags in a reefer. Used to see a lot of Bulkmatic trucks there, but I didn't know they had a full-fledged terminal there.
Are they still buying Mack's or have they switched over to Volvo's, or are they pretty mixed? I always liked the looks of those older CH model Macks with the Bulkmatic stickers on them.
Thanks for the help. I hope I can get a job with them. I should have applied to them a few months ago instead of going with Heartland. To tell the truth, I forgot all about Bulkmatic until I saw one of their trucks a couple days ago. I'll let you know what I find out.
EDIT: Just found on Bulkmatic's website that they have a rail to truck transfer station in Knoxville. I'm sure that'll help my chances of getting a job since I'm not far from Knoxville. About 10 miles to city limits, 15 maybe to downtown. Please let me know your experiences with them. Thanks!Last edited: Jan 31, 2009

I live in Rochester, NY. and i see then have a transload yard in Buffalo, NY. In Dec. of '99 i was convicted of a burglary (felony) and i am in the process of getting it expungged. With it not being expungged yet, do they hire drivers with a felony almost 10 years ago? I have 13 months OTR exp in dry/refer. I only have the basic req for a Class A CDL w/ no endoursements but can get tanker added.

This is my first post to this Forum and I have learned a lot from it. I'm trying to find procedures, guide books, training plans, etc on the proper way to unload sand from pneumatic trailers. Anyone out there have any contacts that can how me up? I want to give new employee's the basic knowledge of how the system works, etc before they go out with a trainer. I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

I've hauled that green sand they use in filtration systems into the Dupont plant in Deepwater NJ. Put air to the aerators, or shakers as some guys call them, about 10-12 lbs top air and wide open on the bottom line. It took me about 2 hrs to unload 45,000 lbs. We hauled it in a generic plain jane bulk trailer that was also used for soda ash, plastic pellets, and urea.

I worked for Bulkmatic for for 2 years, they pay by the %of the load,I think it was around 24%,flour,fly ash, plastic pellets this pays good, you have to learn how to unload from rail cars, sometimes waiting on the railroad .It pays very well if you have to go somewhere and vac out somebodys solo, about 40hr
yes,we always took our sweet time doing this.Very heavy loads, the more you load, the more you got pay.Always 80000
and very easy to turn one over, because there top heavy. You have to be very safe around those tanks, because of the high pressue you use to unload,no joke

I've been running pneumatics for a while now, and although my company has tried to come up with a "Standard" for the new hires to unload trailers, it all falls back on a good trainer and a couple of days on the job to show a driver what is expected.
At my outfit, paperwork is the big thing you're going over with an experienced pneumatic driver as your new trainee,
I can say this because...even if you've got YEARS of experience with pneumatic trailers...
SAND IS DIFFERENT!!!!!
No two trailers operate exactly alike...and no two drivers are going to operate the trailers exactly the same either.
Let your trainers do their job where it comes to the trailers, paperwork and the loads.
Hopefully you're hiring truck drivers and not just steering wheel holders -
Are the drivers at bulkmatic members of the teamsters..
