This is what I'm wondering is at what point count will a driver become a trouble maker ? I'm guessing somewhere in the 20 point plus range.
Also right now With my CDL I cannot take traffic school and a ticket in my car or motorcycle is the same as the truck.
So will the CSA point system also count against me when I'm driving my Car ?

I don't know for a fact on the threshold of points becoming a problem to continued employment, I suspect it will vary due to insurance guidelines. The car or motorcycle violations are the same as for a truck, they will count both ways.
I think there is a possibility of personal vehicle insurance gouging you if you have a high score, even with no accidents or convictions on your record. Convictions in a CMV have caused some of us to have higher rates for car insurance.JustSonny Thanks this. -
The way it has been explained to me (so far); there would be two (2) log violations, pre-trip not noted and log not up to date, and the weight infraction. There could also be a "mechanical" infraction for improper equipment in service. This is the main area for concern on our parts as drivers...the latitude, or lack thereof, will be at the soul discretion of the LEO.
You are correct on the points are already set, but the threshold level for the initial warning letter (one to the driver and also one to the drivers company) has not been determined, still being debated. As to the different "BASICS", points are points, they accumulate just like in a game of football. Each group (refer to the different pages on my original post) is ready to go, right now they are compiling for drivers, statistics going back 3 years, and for companies 2 years. Keep in mind there will be three maybe four different company levels...as you can't match a Swift with Joe Trucker company...the size of the company will differentiate the grouping for the company warning system.
refer to above response to Oldienewbe (too many letters to remember that moniker)
The safety meeting we had, they used an example of one of our drivers (not any more anyway), and the inspection at the WY POE. After all was said and done...he accumulated 39 points in one single inspection. So watch yourselves and your actions from here on in.
As to the personal vehicle...yes any ticket you get, seat belt, cell phone use without hands free system, rolling a stop, improper lane change...anything will get you points on the CSA 2010, plus the report will be sent to your insurance carrier, and your company. TRIPLE WHAMMO
There will be 3 levels on the driver points, first level is the "standard operating" group, second will be the company better have some serious talks with said driver, and the third and final required NON-DRIVER STATUS, BUT THE COMPANY CAN ALWAYS MAKE THIS BAD BOY A DISPATCHER, OR TOILET JOCKEY.mizdageeragn, JustSonny, 25(2)+2 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I just realized something...don't both of these positions have the same job description and pay scale?
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Yes they have. 90 % unhireable. Found a good website. Also, printed out the full 97 page CSA 2010 manual. Good Investment!
-
Yes they have WHAT?
-
Published the number of points needed to be declared unfit .
-
Well, would you mind sharing that info with the rest of the class please? Where can I get my copy?
-
I also looked for the list and cannot find it.
-
Why not, they are moving violations or accidents. Any moving violation or accident can and will effect your personnel auto insurance.
