Keep in mind the CSA2010 program will rate a carrier based on the "carrier's" 24 month performance record, but will look at a "driver's" 36 month record.

Like I said before, more of the same, treating the symptoms only and ignoring the disease! The carrier who is responsible for paying the drivers when they break the law get a slap on the wrist once again. Maybe if carriers really wanted safe drivers they would STOP PAYING THEM WHEN THEY BREAK THE LAW! The technology exists and if you have Qualcomm, they know when drivers exceed thier hours. If you wont get paid for the miles you drive after your hours are used up, where is the incentive to drive those extra miles???
-
The carriers have one thing on their minds, THE BOTTOM LINE! As long as a driver bows down, kisses where the sun doesn't shine, and responds to the carrier in the following manner; "yes sir boss man, what you want now". As long as the carriers have drivers such as this, they could care less about "safety".
You really don't believe that CSA2010 is about "safety", do you? As with the carriers, the government is only concerned about the BOTTOM LINE. -
Not mine! my insurance does not check or ask about MVR...
I have a ticket for speeding 5 over (in a car) and a ticket for drivign on the wrong side of the road (jughandle turn in semi...) and other companies want around $200 a month for liability only........
-
As long as there are carriers that insist on paying drivers HALF WHAT THEY ARE WORTH, and continue to pay drivers when THEY KNOW the driver is out of hours, there will be drivers who will have little choice to break the rules or their family will starve!
As to CSA 2010, It's not even about money! It's about convincing the voters that their favorite politician cares about them by sticking it to the mean, nasty truckdrivers so they can get re-elected.
Meanwhile, over 40,000 people lost their lives in car/car accidents and NO ONE has even suggested limiting or taking away their rights or priviledges. The real killers on the highway are 4 wheelers and what have the lawmakers done to stem the flow of death and destruction brought about by the amatuers??? Nothing!!!
They continue to punish the drivers who THEY SAY ARE THE PROFESSIONALS! Makes perfect sense, huh? -
Every night when I was out there, I would see4-wheelers with tail lights out, headlights out, and trailers being pulled either by a pick-up or a car and not a sign of lights on the trailer. Did I ever see one of them pulled over? Nope! You go up the road and get wrote up for a light being out and I wonder why I am so anti-government, it ain't no wonder.

I THINK YOU GUYS HAVE COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SAFETY, BUT RATHER IS A WAY TO INTRODUCE MEXICAN DRIVERS INTO THIS COUNTRY! for the last administration as well as this one, a promise has been made to mexico to fully implement nafta, and that includes mexicans running unchecked inside our borders. with trade groups (ooida, teamsters, etc) yelling "foul" and threatening lawsuits, the programs have been put on hold. the "fix" would be to create a severe shortage of u.s. drivers, which this legislation is designed to do. citing an "emergency", mexican trucks will fill the void. you should all understand there is no way form law enforcement to check a mexican drivers license, criminal history, or status. the drivers would be exempt from most laws since they are not citizens, and have no duty to act in the same manner as a citizen unless they commit felony crimes, and even then, in some cases mexico demands the return of it's citizen.
many states, like indiana, are currently accepting federal money to work "truck projects" in which state troopers totally ignore auto infractions, and go after trucks which working those projects. this uneven enforcement (nevermind the constitution and all that "equal protection under the law" nonsense, as well as the oath to "protect and defend the constitutution" as cops are turning into prostitutes for state and federal governments) is designed to thin out the numbers of drivers by uneven and oppressive enforcement, and in so doing, the cops sell out their own country, own citizens, and supports the unemployment problems of another country. the really bad news is, once the flood of junk start rolling north, the carnage on the road will be massive, and our own government as well as our own law enforcement will be responsible. a few years ago a truck was stopped in maryland. the driver of the semi was a 16 YEAR OLD MEXICAN WITH A VALID MEXICAN COMMERCIAL LICENSE, which was bought by the father in mexico (sorta like how it works in illinois). the father was summoned from mexico, and the truck was released to make it's delivery. no charges were filed. what would have happened to you? -
My brother in law works for a small company, 100 trucks or so and they told him they received the formal info and it is 90 pages of criteria. They did tell him the cutoff was twelve points just like a regular drivers license.
-
Ok here is something i want to know about all of this, If a driver quits a company for whatever reason and the company already uses the dac to get even by false info to hireright, can this info also be used by the CSA against drivers? Points given by CSA to a driver due to bad info from a trucking company and bad false reports from a company to CSA?? How is this going to work?
-
CSA will give points on violations written by LEO's and will not use DAC info .
But think about this . Would a company report something a driver did while they employed him if it would result in CSA points ? They'd carry the points as well .
