Police: Man Lived With Mother's Corpse

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Police found that a man had been living with his mother's badly decomposed body after a nine-hour SWAT standoff, WLKY in Louisville reported.

The situation ended early Friday morning when the man surrendered and let officers inside a home. When police searched the home, they found the body.

Police said 88-year-old Sina Harris died six months ago and was left to decompose in her bed while her son continued to live in the house.

Her son, Julius Harris, faces two felony charges, one for abusing a corpse and another for theft by deception.

Thursday, police went to the house around 5:30 p.m. to check the welfare of Sina Harris. Julius Harris answered the door with a gun to his head. He then locked himself inside the home.
