There are a lot of good trucking companies. If you go into this with a positive attitude you are likely to do well and carve out a good living for yourself and your family.

Wow! I just googled, trucking jobs for felons, no wonder some of these companies have zero qualms of lying, and expecting a driver to violate HOS. I'd no clue until now. And some wonder what's wrong with our industry.

All that is assuming that a lot of these felons have moved into dispatcher type jobs. No one get upset, some exfelons really have learned their lesson, and have actually cleaned up their act. -
There have been felons in this business for as long as I can remember. When I started, it was one of the few jobs they could get where they would not be as closely scrutinized or judged for their past mistakes. It was also a job where they could earn a good living. I think people were less judgmental back then. Today, we have a much more diverse group of people who are driving. I don't have a problem with felons in this business. As far as I am concerned, they have paid their debt to society and should be allowed to rehabilitate themselves and earn a decent living. A number of things are considered felonies today that were misdemeanors or may not have even been against the law a few years ago. Many are better drivers than others who have never been in trouble with the law. I have known some nice drivers over the years who have had a questionable background. We all make mistakes. Some get caught.
otherhalftw, drvrtech77, Diesel Dave and 2 others Thank this. -
Oh I've no problem with someone that has turned their life around, and exfelons I've met, appeared to be that way, but we both know there's that segment who haven't. It just got me thinking, not always a good thing.

I am going to go to cdl school while still working my current job with the sheriff's office. When I complete the schooling I will look for both trucking and police jobs in the south. I might try trucking and if it doesn't work out I can always go back into the law enforcement field.
Mrs V Thanks this. -
There are plenty of driving jobs. You should not have a problem finding a job. I don't know what part of the south you plan on moving, but there are a lot of accredited schools around. -
Good luck to ya! Both of those are needed professions, more so if your satisfied and good at either one.

Why not see about going to another law enforcement agency? You have 11yrs exp. The $$ out here is not worth it anymore. Higher cost of everthing & trucking co's has essentially cut pay & miles. Law enforcement would still give you a decent career with good benefits & be home with family.
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
That's what I said from the beginning. He should seek an agency in the commercial enforcement, So if he does our inspection, he should let us off with a warning....
