Are all state troopers federally certified in truck safety inspections?

40,000 pounds over!?! That must be fun driving through the mountains. I'm guessing moving the tandems doesn't help when you're carrying that much weight.

No offense HarldyWorking, but that story there is on reason I have a great disdain for the state of Connecticut. And I know living in Ohio that a great number of drivers hate my state. But in my 12 years of driving, Conn has been the one that messed with me the most for some reason. Granted some things I deserved.
But one time I was coming down 95 with a full load of bottled water and was cut off by some woman moving from the right lane to the middle lane. I was going the speed limit (55mph) she was doing way less. There was a state trooper behind her in the right lane. I knew what was going on around me and there was no way I could slow down that loaded truck without tagging her in the butt. I made an evasive maneuver to the left lane and the trooper slammed his brakes, jumped over the two lanes and immediately pulled me over. When I asked him if he saw the woman cut me off he said he did but that there was "no reason what-so-ever" for me to be in the left lane. When I asked if he would rather me hit her and cause an accident on I-95 in morning rush hour he said "at least I wouldn't have been driving in the wrong lane".
So it is no surprise to me that New Haven is targeting big trucks and spreading propaganda. -
I hear ya. My understanding, after many years of lax traffic enforcement of any kind thru the city of New Haven (not the interstate) they are starting to crack down on speeding and running red lights. They are mainly getting the gas tankers that seem to be having problems stopping for red lights or speeding down the route 34 connecter near all the hospital and medical buildings. They are also getting containers and dump trailers running in and out of the Long Warf area from time to time. Watch your P's& Q's thru New Haven if you get off of the interstate.
I don't understand why they don't do anything about the dump trucks that run through there overweight. My guess is because they are contracted by the state for the road construction.
And the 4 Wheelers? Very, Very rarely do you see any kind of traffic enforcement on them through the city. New Haven is more concerned with crime and locating and towing or booting cars that taxes are owed on. Often, over look things like, no turn or on red, or going thru an intersection as the light turns red. We've had major accidents because of this through out the city and still they decide to go for the trucks first. -
I had my only on road accident near Greenwich,Ct near the coop on I95. Swerved avoid someone flying up the onramp. He cut me off and I took evasive action and side swiped a straight rig. Messed the company truck up pretty bad. CT DOT acted like I should've run them go figure
. I avoid Ct unless I've got to go thru it.

I know that some states are worse than others to drive in but for some reason, I am always uncomfortable driving in Connecticut. No body is consistent or speed conscientious. I had a car cut me off and slow down as well and there was a cop car right behind them who witnessed this. This cop slowed down and looked at me like I did something wrong.
Another time I had 2 cars pass me who were playing bumper cars Im guessing that someone cut the other off a few miles back and they decided to take their road rage a little farther. Both of these cars were new - one was one of those Chrysler Cross-Fires and the other one was a Ford Explorer. The Cross-Fire pulls into the slow lane where I was and right behind him (right in front of me) the Explorer pulls in and just then the Cross-Fire slams his brakes on. The Explorer hits the Cross-Fire and I try everything in my power to avoid hitting the Explorer by locking up the brakes. I couldnt swerve into the other lane for fear that I would end up on my side so of course I ram into the back of the Explorer putting a hole the size of your fist in the back of his rear door. Apparently one of the front towing hooks that sit just below the bumper punctured right through the metal on his door but not a scratch on the truck. Now you would think that by now someone would have pulled over by now but I guess that they both figured that they had already banged up their cars throughout their road ragging, whats another scrape in the paint. Both cars continued chasing each other down Interstate 95 as if this was just another day out here playing like little children after school. As long as neither one of them were going to stop I sure wasnt about to. Scared the wife so bad that she wants to be dropped off whenever I have to go into that state, and make sure your will is up to date she says.
Connecticut by far is probably the most creepiest place to drive through, its worse than Florida as far as I can tell. -
Will they give up a % of the $ for building rest areas and adding more security?
Nah its all about taking and not receiving.
