I haven't had that problem as a smoker, still run the stairs at work, without getting winded (4 flights one job, 10 flights the other) Maybe because I'v always taken stairs rather than an elalvator when I when I can. Maybe because of my lifestyle of being active. My sister is a nurse with a research company. There was a study I could qualify for because she wasn't on it in any way. it was for smokers, went in, failed to qualify cause i had no symptoms that were smoking related, and all the testing showed I was qualified to be with the control group of non- smokers-but was excluded cause i have smoked for over 25 years. Go figure! But at the same time, I work in nursing, and see what can happen to some who do smoke like me, go figure that one also!

Yes. I remember going on long trips in the car, both parents smoking with windows closed and kids in the back seat...and my parents are good people. None of us kids became smokers, and both parents eventually quit. But I hate going into a place to eat that allows smoking, even if there is a nonsmoking section. Cigarette smell travels. Although I'm not an Ayn Rand libertarian, I think you're right about the government keeping their grubby mitts out of other people's business. If you smoke, it's not up to me to tell you to stop. But it's a nasty habit I'm free to have an opinion about. I actually agree with smokers who think the government is going too far in an effort to curb smoking. It is a choice people make, not a choice the government should make for you.

OK, I just have to say this, so many said that smoking is gross. OK, you are entitled to ##### about that. But, we need to start ######## about fat ##### that can't keep their ### crack covered. Me eating a nice meal and then look over and see this fat slob with his ### hanging out. Talk about want to toss my cookies. That's F'n gross. :biggrin_25521::biggrin_25521:

You've got a legitimate point for a different thread. This one is about smoking. Smoking is bad for you. It's bad for the people around you that have to breath your smoke. It smells bad while your doing it. It makes you smell bad even when you aren't doing it. Any nonsmoker that's spent time in a bar or bowling alley will wake up the next morning with their room, clothes, hair, and skin...all smelling like stale, disgusting cigarette smoke even though they didn't even smoke anything. Most smokers are polite and will go out of their way to avoid contaminating you, but they don't understand how bad they truly smell, even if their last cigarette was hours earlier. Most nonsmokers are also polite, and don't tell you how bad you smell. Smoking is a choice...a bad choice.

Smoking is not bad for you, smoking in excess is bad for you. If you smoke 3 or 4 cigarettes a day you will be fine but when you smoke a pack a day that is not good. A bologna sandwich is good for you but if you eat 20 a day you will probably have heart problems. But, as far as butt cracks go, I still think it's gross and is OK in this thread. :biggrin_25523:

It's OK to mention butt cracks on this thread. It's not OK to link butt cracks and smoking. They're completely different issues. I am inclined to believe you that a couple of cigarettes a day isn't going to significantly hurt your health. We live in a world where most people think in terms of black and white, when in fact, the world is full of grey.
