thanks a-lot for all those quick replies!

Why should a GPS App (like WAZE) cannot be used for trucks? the roads are the same...right.?
    please explain if you can

    lol in a word? NO

the roads are not the same.

there are many many restrictions. weight restrictions. height restrictions. specific truck routes around towns. truck restrictions in towns. hazmat restrictions.

use a non-truck gps and see how quick you end up looking at a bridge that is 10' tall and you're 13'6"

or staring at a sign that says trucks prohibited.

or a bridge that says weight limit 10,000lbs and you weigh 75,000

or a 2 lane road through the mountains that is barely wider than your truck and 180 switchbacks lol

no, the roads are not the same. the shortest or quickest route on a non-truck gps may not be legal or even safe. for you or those around you.....and the fines for being caught on a road where you aren't supposed to be can be quite high.

hell, sometimes even a truck-specific gps can get you in trouble. you have to learn how to use a map before you can use a toy that pretends to be a map. used in conjunction with each other it's a good combination,

what happens when that fancy toy dies or freezes up at just the wrong time? it will.

Some routes are restricted, some have weight limits, and as stated above. some have bridges.

so the Garmin alerts you before going into a bridge? or it routes you to a different way?
do you enter your truck's height to the Garmin?

Truck GPS SHOULD alert you to these restrictions, sometimes they have been wrong. That is why you use the GPS in ADDITION to the Atlas
