First off here’s what I have everything is 3 Year’s old

    Cobra 29 Ltd classic
18 ft Wilson coax ran through passenger door
Wilson t2000 mounted on factory mirror mount

My range has gone down considerably in the last year I have noticed. I use to hear and receive a lot farther away. Also getting quite a bit of static feedback and having to turn the squelch and gain down. I hit quite a few low branches and noticed the top of my antenna is bent at about a 45 degree angle. Is this what’s causing my poor range? Do I need to just replace the whip with a new one? TIA

Could be dirty factory mount..Could be pinched coax..Could be bad connections between ant and coax and radio...

So the bend at the top of antenna wouldn’t hurt my situation any? The coax is shut in the door so pinched might also be an issue

Replace your coax, I’ve always replaced coax in a rig yearly despite the fact it “looked” okay. Call me OCD but I never trusted it after a year of service unless it was high quality coax. Even then, passing thru a vent window or door frame WILL eventually make for bad juju. Check the connections at the stud. Make sure it’s all clean. Keep in mind skip is picking up currently also.

The fact your body is completely made out of plastic isn't helping the situation.
A dipole is the only antenna that I was able to get working on that truck

You should clean and shiny up all your ground points about every 6 months or so. It will make a difference.

Kinda hard to do that in a T2000 without gutting the interior.

I think you misunderstood truck isn’t a Kenworth. The truck is Mack granite dump truck. Antenna is Wilson brand
