Dam n. Now I'm honestly conflicted.

I have to get service this week. It's scheduled. I can go to a TA, I think but they'd prefer i take it to one of our shops.

I'm thinking I should just call safety, send in some pictures, go to a shop, get my service, have my safety talk and see if everything turns out ok.

On the other hand, if I lose this job, I doubt I'll get a chance elsewhere.

    Ugh

Have you had any other accidents since you started this company? If it were me I would report it,you conscious will get the best of you if you don't.I highly doubt you'll get fired if you've been a good driver since you started there.Things happen and yes this will go on your record,so what just be careful from now on.In the long run it may be harder on you if you don't report it.

stop yer worrying. accidents ADO HAPPEN!!

if you take the road to honesty, if there was to be any punishment, it'll be a slap on the wrist. wait longer, you may get royally chewed out. this IS NOT something that another employer will gripe about!

If it were just a scratch then I'd say ignore it but something noticeable ya report it because the shop will find out.

This thread brings to mind one more thing I like about flatbed. Cab extenders are a lot further from the trailer. Usually anyway. We would generally be jack-knifed way past reasonable, and way into screw up territory, before they would ever contact each other.

You make the call on it, but remember; the next little ding or scratch, then you have two incidents on your DAC. Things aren't looking good when that happens.
Go to the TA and get the truck serviced.
Use the post trip inspection as a backup plan.

It is not so much the shop will rat you out as it is fixing the fairing and accounting for the labor and materials. The shops have to account for all the costs. I can't tell you how many times I have heard a shop boss tell a driver to go right now and tell safety. Most shops will do a walk-a-round at the terminals looking at tractors and trailers to see if scheduled maintenance is due. Most will red tag and fix things seen. It is very hard to avoid this.

There not expensive. Just order one and put it on. If you have it rigged to stay on perhaps the old it was like that when I got this truck statement can go a long ways.
