Hi everyone, I’m new here. I’m not a trucker but my dad is and I’m looking I to getting an AC unit for his truck. I know he can use the trucks AC but it’s wasting lots of gas is what I’m assuming is happening by doing that, any body know of any “portable AC mounts” that I can buy for the truck or any other way I can cool or heat the truck. Just worried about him since he’s really all alone and only time I can see him is whenever he is able to bring a load I to Cali for a day or two. Thank you everyone in advance, just a daughter trying to take care of her dad :)

    That's cool to hear.
Best way is called an APU. They cost 5-15 thousand. This type has it's own motor.

These below need the truck to provide power.
Portable AC works if his truck has a power inverter big enough to handle the demand. Also you want the type that brings air from outside the cab to cool the inerds of the AC, not the already cooled air within the cab.

Research RV service business, they commonly supply units that can work in a truck. Red Dot is a common after market supplier of cab climate control.

There is a battery powered AC unit also.

Type in portable AC into search bar (the magnifying glass) top right of web page.

    Good luck

There is one called Zero Breeze 2. It plugs in or can use it's battery. Cost is about $1000. Right now there is a special going on and they do have zero interest payments.

Thank you all for your help I’m going to look into the APU one that was recommended. Idk about 15k that’s a little much if there is payment plans for the 5k I’d be willing to do that. Again thank you. And for the Zero 1k one I saw that one as well just trying to find some reviews on it. Again thank you all so much, we’re getting close to winter now so hopefully I find something soon for the cold as well. Already ordered him a sleeping bag for below 10 degrees carhart beanies memory foam for his bed and sock warmers for winter preparation just didn’t think about summer ‍♀️
