Then you have your next set of truck batteries. If the system works now but doesn't last its probably the batteries. Buy a battery tester? Only reason I would pursue it is the AC for the summer, which reduces idle and prolongs dpf filter. Espar or webesto is the way to go for heat, but I wouldn't add it if your battery bank works well......

If you have a new unit installed by someone who knows how to do it, it will work fine for probably 2 years if you don't maintain it. A good way to plug them up faster is starting your truck and the voltage drop is enough to cut the power where it doesn't do the slower 2 minute shut off. It really will cook you if you set it too high.
If whatever system you choose fails then you idle the truck until you find a place that can look at it for you. Or you buy the screen and an igniter and special socket and do it yourself. Video below. If you really want to never idle for heat you could install 2 espar heaters and alternate their use.

If you want to get an Espar, get one from a dealer with a warrantee.
They can install it and it will work for you right.
I bought two of them on ebay thinking "great I can save some money" but when they were installed by me, the things did not work at all, they had a fried control board and the seller just disappeared.Justrucking2 Thanks this. -
So, how much did you resell them on eBay for? Lol...

I just installed diesel bunk heater that I previously used before to keep warm 16x16 shed. It's not webasto or espar, but similar heater and works great. It costed me around 500 in total. I cleaned igniter once I believe. In worse case scenario I probably could just install new one and still save $. But mainly, I don't like idling during sleep time, not just because of saved money.

Here's a radical thought that will never happen. Our elected "leaders" pass a bill requiring AP use on every class 8 tractor with a sleeper. This will save millions of gallons of fuel annually. This would increase the safety on our highways in that drivers would be more rested.
Oops. I forgot. This would do nothing to help any Corporation. Fuel is taxed by the gallon. No reason to conserve in that respect. Why kick the cash cow? Idle on Wayne. Idol on Garth
Don't mind me. It must have been that mushroom omelette I had for breakfast.
