Hello!
I went to salt lake city the staff and the support I got at training was awesome. I am now out with the trainer so far okay. you can read some of my posts.
best wishes!
Grandma Debi -
But CR England is it. My recruiter called me this morning and sure enough, I'm in - he is processing me now and I start training in SLC on Monday 2/18... I will follow your posts to see how you're making out!
Billy -
Good luck! I have read post like yours for many years now. Maybe yours will turn out better. -
"Schneider sent me a letter saying they aren't looking for drivers at this time."
That's weird, they are suppose to be coming to our community college class either next week or the week after. Don't like their new policy of having to bring the truck in for home time if you live within 150 miles of one of their terminals...I live 110 miles from the Charlotte, NC terminal and don't want to drive my car two hours to get my truck back to go out and drive every time I go out. The old policy was that if you lived outside of 75 miles from a terminal you could take the truck home. TMC is scheduled to come to our school as well, that's the one I'm looking at, just hate that flatbed is really slow right now.
Good luck with CRE! They have a huge terminal 30 minutes down in Spartanburg on I-26 from my house, wish it was someone better. Hope you like it and do well there. What do they transport mostly? Food? People always have to have that. Maybe you'll do well while running down the miles while everyone else is sitting around waiting for loads. -
Rolling Thunder,
I just want to wish you well on the beginning of your driving career. People may have different opinions on the company you have chosen, but one good thing is that CR England are willing to give you an opportunity to do the job you want to do.
From what I've read so far on this site, it sounds like there could be challenges with any company. It sounds like you have a real desire to drive, so my advice is to just stay determined, maintain the positive attitude you currently have, and stick it out for the first year. Maybe you will be pleasantly surprised, and CR England will be a great fit for you. If not, you will gain valuable experience either way.
Then more and more options will become available to you.
Best of luck!CraZyMotherTrucker Thanks this. -
I think schneider is hiring too many students and dont have enough trainers for them.
As far as CRE--dont matter how close a terminal is to you they will send you to SLC even if your experienced. -
Hey rolling thunder, ya gotta go where they want ya! I'm leaving on Sunday for orientation with Prime out in Pittston Pa! Taking the "grey dog" out of NYC on that afternoon. Maybe we'll cross paths out there somewhere? Who knows eh? The only other offer i had was from Stevens transport, hmmm let me think,no thanks. Good luck dude! bug-out

Just got a postcard in the mail today from US Xpress asking me to call them about a job. After looking at the info on this site, I'm wondering if it is true. Orientation classes w/70 drivers....waiting since Thanksgiving for a tariner and not getting paid. If I call this women back I will address these issues. I'll ask for pay from completion of orientation until I'm assigned a trainer. My guess is she will hang up on me.

Dear Billy:
Perhaps this advice from a woman who was just there and done that may helpyou!
1. Do not expect the hilton or even motel 6 bring your own bedding, towel, and sleep clothes... the bathroom is down a common co-ed hall.
2. Loose any obsessions you may of had to must see/hear TV or radio programs.
3. Pack a survival kit to include hygeine items, stamps, envelopes, pen & paper, favorite snacks....
4. Invest in a cell phone with a plan with plenty of free minutes and no roaming charges. bring a charger.
5. If time allows before you get to training STUDY for the tests and learn the parts of the RIG... this will help you and your classmates.
6. Pack your tenacity, determination, positive attitude, and be open to learning a lot quickly.
7. Help create a culture with your class mates of "we are in this together" you can make study groups happen and practice driving late in the eve together. Be cheer leaders for each other.
8. Expect long jam packed days. You will be tired. Study late and sleep fast.
My friend (the other grandma Debe who stayed home with the grand kids) gave me great advice..... Think of the salmon fish who try to swim upstream.... HALF OF THEM DIE ON THE JOURNEY.... instead be like the floating leaf on the quiet brook and just float along gently..... In other words....
9. GO WITH THE FLOW!
10. Understand that class, books, instructor/teachers, and the real world trainers are two different realities. Remember with the training phase THIS TOO SHALL PASS.
IF I CAN DO IT AND MY CLASSMATES DID IT YOU CAN DO IT.
AVOID having the drug test trip you up!
Know that Grandma Debi and Grandma Debe both have you on our prayer list.... Maybe I'll see you if I get to do the next tests in UTAH
(However, that is doubtful as of now.I may end up anywhere)
Just think of this as an adventure in trucking. Realize it may be awhile before you will see home. Get someone to water the plants!
STAY POSITIVE....
Blessings! Philippians 4:4-9
DebiCraZyMotherTrucker, venne and AZ_Equine Thank this.
