Is having to pass through a metal detector to
see your dispatcher at CRE a good thing? If so,
    CRE is good.

LOL, yes, I heard about that. I also read somewhere that some trainee had his trainer drop dead of a heart attack while over the road and CRE came for the load, but left him at the truck stop for 3 days. :biggrin_25510:

Now I understand why you have to pass through a metal detector to see anyone in upper management. :biggrin_25523:

Well, tomorrow I will learn my fate. I may not get accepted due to my Nevada suspension as I mentioned in previous post. If CRE won't accept me, I sure hope someone will. Like I said - I got it suspended for failure to pay the fine, not for racking up numerous offenses. My record as far as getting tickets is pretty clean.

One speeding in 2000 and one red light in 2004.

Well, good and bad news... my recruiter called me today and said he hasn't gotten word from them yet, so what he did was he asked me if I still wanted to start on the 18th... I said I would rather push it up a week because I am flying - not going Greyhound - and they reinburse me 100 dollars. But I am not going to buy the ticket and get all packed and ready and then find it's a no-go.

So he put in my info for starting on the 25th and he told me he's going to assume that they are going to take me. It does seem good, because I think if it was a no-go, they would have said something by now. He put my official application in on Thurday of last week. They haven't said anything yet to him. So he put in my official information to start class on the 25th - this morning - and said he will let me know later this week - or Monday the 18th the absolute latest. So that's good. If I know by then, I have time to prepare.

Can you (or anyone) just tell me... if CRE does not accept me, will there be a company somewhere that will? But it has to also provide the training.

Like I said - the suspension was only for not paying the fine, not over racking up points. It was ONE ticket and it was 2 points.

The only tickets I ever got in the past 14 years was a speeding in 2000 and the red light in 2004. That's actually pretty good. I know the suspension puts me in a shadow, but like I said - it's because of the failure to pay the fine, NOT because of multiple tickets.

Just want to prepare myself for a back-up just in case. I should be OK, right?

You're asking us to assure you about a company that has metal detectors to go through if you want to see a dispatcher?

    Sure!
    No problem!
    They wouldn't steer you wrong.
They're completely on the up & up.
Those metal detectors are only there for YOUR
    protection.
    Doncha know. :biggrin_25512: :yes2557: :biggrin_25520:

BUT,............ if I were you,......... I'd have a round-trip ticket in my pocket when I arrived.
You know,............... just in case the metal detector is out to lunch.
It's a long walk home when nobody knows your name. :biggrin_2553::biggrin_2552:

There are not just metal detectors hell i would consider that a reasonable safety measure there are armed security guards at almost every entrance. I worked for cr england for a year as a company driver was let go a week ago one of my rules to my DM was don't route me thru salt lake city, I can't stand that place. As far as the company goes they suck but you have to start somewhere and put in your time and for that they are just as good as the rest at least they have nice equipment you can drive while you get your 2 years in then go somewhere else. AVOID SALT LAKE CITY CRE

Well, I'm not so much worried about the company itself as I am about if I will get accepted. I understand all the negativity about CRE - I have read it in here and also tons of it outside of this forum. I don't care. I'm willing to go through the torture to get into the trucking industry. If I don't like it, I'll put in my time and go elsewhere like the previous poster said. No big deal.

I'm just worried that I won't be accepted there due to the suspension. But like I said - it was suspended over an unpaid ticket - NOT over racking up points. It was one ticket ... a 2 pointer.

I have had 2 tickets since year 2000... one in 2000 and another in 2004.

    both 2 pts each.

I don't care about the horrors of CRE - I just care about getting a job. Right now, I'll be thankful for that. If CRE is my entrance into the industry, so be it. Like I said - it might be a good thing to start there because if/when I leave, it can only get better.

Right now I am desperate enough to get into the industry that I'll work for Ebeneizer Scrooge if I have to.

Well Debi, thank you very much! And if all goes as planned, I will be starting my class on Monday the 25th, so perhaps we will meet! :)

If you dont mind my asking...

The written test - it's basically the general and the air brakes, right? I was told no hazmat or bus will be on it - but what about multiple trailers? doubles and triples?

Also, I am hoping that it will be a relatively safe enough atmosphere because I am bringing my laptop and other things.

    Billy

Oh and also - how long into the class do they test you with the written exam? They at least go over the basics for a couple of days, right? I mean, they don't throw the test at you the first day do they?

I mean, I'm studying it, anyway, and taking my own notes - even using my good ol' yellow highlighter marker :)

But I still hope they just sort of go over things first. no?

The metal detector and armed guard are really there. When I drove for CRE a trainer commited suicide by shotgun at the Sapp Bros in SLC, and they made the trainee drive the truck back to the yard. The body was no longer in the truck but the mess still was. I wonder if the next lessee got a break on the payment. Probably not. I drove for them for a year and I hate them because of what they did to me and my friends that worked there.
