    I was making more than that 20+ years ago. Double that now. You need to find something better.

    I'm also 23 and got a criminal record that still makes it hard to try to find a better job. I'm diggin what I do , there will be better opportunity's , and I'm looking for them , but until then I couldnt be happier to be honest.

    I live in Midland, TX the Community college is about 4k the cc in Odessa is about 5k Truckers international in Odessa is about 6k and they are all 8-6 M-F for a month. 2k part-time sounds much more reasonable, I'd of gone for that.

    There are even cheaper schools here for around $1,500. If you're going to spend $5k around you you're better off coming to Chicago for three weeks and staying @ a cheap motel while you go to school. Seriously, you'd still come out ahead of the 8 ball.

    JOET .... here is some advise that i think you really need to look into .... i have 1 word for you .... (((( RUN )))) run like forrest gump ... although the thought of getting your cdl from the boob lady and her husband for 250.00 and less time than it takes to cross the country right off the bat is not right .......

    i dont know them for anyone, but i will tell you one thing and i am sure most will agree with me on this forum....

    if you happen to finsh and get your CDL for their cost of 250.00, and you get it in a very short time, thats one thing ...

    BUT BUT BUT,

    what are you doing to say to companies when they ask you the all important question and that is ;

    and where did you go to trucking school ?????????????

    you sure as heck cant say;

    well i went to this place for 250 bucks and it was quick and fast

    if you say that, and they still hire you , then there is something wrong with them ......

    you need to go to a real trucking school and get your training in ...

    i have seen the youtube video with her and her floopys jumping out of her shirt and her high heels on just a week ago i seen it and told my son who wants to be a trucker when he is of age, if i ever find out he went to someone like this i would make sure he dont ever drive for anyone ...

    my own son asked me if i would train him to drive and i have almost 17 yrs in and i told him HELL NO !!!!

    he has to put the time in ... it would benefit you to find a place to put the time in, even if you have to go to schneider and have them train you and you sign on for a year with them so they can train you, at least you are trained and you get your time in and get experience .... but plz, dont follow though with chesty and her husband, i am sure it will back fire on you .....

    and OOOOHHHHHHH by the way ... if you search youtube for the title cdl dallas texas ... watch that video about this 3 to 5 day cdl company .... here is what is wrong with that video ...

    they say 53 ft trailers .... does that look like a 53 ft trailer ... not to me it dont

    they shifting takes time to know so they will put you in a automatic truck to learn ... ok what happens when you get your cdl with them and go to a REAL COMPANY for a job, you cant shift, you cant be hired .... even us xpress got rid of their automatics ....

    they say you wont be driving in a real school for more than 3 days ... i went to trucking school 17 yrs ago and i drove just about everyday of my 12 weeks after my first week after the start of the school ....

    and they give you the answers to the tests ... how do you learn if you they give you the answers ....

    They give you answers to sample tests, which are helpful in pointing out what you need to study harder if you miss them, the actual test was a little different. As far as driving practice, some extra time probably would be helpful but at the end of the day it's not rocket science it's just driving a truck, Thanks for the Advice.

    PLEASE TELL ME YOU JUST DIDN'T SAY THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plz tell me you just didnt say and i quote ... some extra time probably would be helpful but at the end of the day it's not rocket science it's just driving a truck, Thanks for the Advice.
    if that is how you are looking at driving a truck and shifting, maybe you and chesty and her nutball husband deserve to work together because there is something wrong with all 3 of you ... when you are on a 8% grade and you are shifting and cant get that truck in gear because the rocket science chapter you missed out on didnt cover it, what will you do ... remember, its rocket science to you and if you miss that gear what will you do ... i sure as hell hope there are no cars in front of you because you will be taking out whoever is near you but hey.. all you have to tell the family of the guy you killed, its not like it was rocket science, i am sure they will feel much better and easily forgive you for killing their loved one.... but remember, you take the test with their automatic truck, do their simple mindless way of thinking and when you go to a company that has manual trans and you cant shift and they send you home, you will understand...

    If one didn't know to downshift prior to the downslope I would sure hope they couldn't pass the test! LOL! Thanks again for the input, God bless!
