The problem is with that illusion is the road has not been inspected. There could be a number of pit falls awaiting you and your speeding car. Or just that one jack rabbit that decides to mosey over to the other side. And the rabbits in NV are rather large. I prefer to do my racing on a inspected closed course. But that's just me.

I'll admit to getting up over 130 during my stint with a sports car while dealing with midlife...
I dialed it back after getting new tires and understanding speed ratings. Most folks hitting speeds like that don't take into consideration their tires likely aren't rated for the speed. I was lucky not to blow a tire at those speeds. -

I wouldn't be scared a bit at 130+mph in this car on a desert highway.
Of course I'll never have to worry about it lol,way above my pay grade.
The 2015 Corvette Z06 is one of the industrys only supercars to achieve over 600 horsepower and offer a choice of two transmissions a 7-speed manual or an all-new paddle-shift 8-speed automatic.

My caddy does 165 easy. If he was in a car on the hwy driving at night with little to no traffic I don't see what the big deal is.
I notice alot of you like to throw rocks from your glass houses. I'm sure the biggest nay sayers on this site are the worst offenders. -
One time while in the Air Force a friend was coming home with me. This was before I-40 was complete between Memphis & Little Rock. I had gotten on the last section completed from Hazel to Little Rock. The speedometer was not working on my 57 Chevy. I came upon an ambulance with its lights blinking. I followed the ambulance for a while them passed him. My friend said while I was passing him that I shouldn't do this, that I would probably get a speeding ticket.
After a bit the ambulances blinking lights had disappeared in my rear view mirror. After a few minutes I told my friend I was going to have to slow down & stop. he asked why. I said there's a state policeman coming up behind me with his light flashing, he turned his head to look & said, "I told you you would get a ticket."
I pulled over & the first thing the state policeman said was, "Where's the fire." I told him I was in the Air Force & going home for the weekend." He asked me why I passed the ambulance, I said, "Well it seemed to be going a bit slow." he asked me, "Do you know how fast you were going?" I said I wasn't sure, my speedometer was not working, but probably about 70 or so." He said I was going 99 MPH.
He was busy writing & finally handed me a piece of paper saying, "I'm going to be easy on you, I'm giving you a warning ticket for speeding, when you get back on the road be sure to driver careful, turned walking back to his car.
My friend with me was from Kentucky & he could not believe I only got a warning ticket. That was in early 1967.
To be honest I could not believe I got away with it either, I tried to drive a bit slower the rest of the way home.
Today there's way to much traffic out there to drive fast, & today the tickets you get cost a heap of money them your insurance will go way up. So its very unwise to drive at such speeds, especially 133 MPH on public roads. -

Interesting. A guy w/ no Commercial experience makes an assumption that drivers w/ decades behind the wheel would risk a career ending violation.

I've hit a jackrabbit among other things while riding on my Harley doing 85-90 and all it did was go splat all over the road, barely even felt it on the bike.
No armadillos in Nevada anyway lol.
Anything bigger you can see a long way off, much different in the trees where I've hit deer twice on the bike.
I think a Corvette would at the worst sustain some front end body damage , I doubt it would be put off the road by a small animal even at 130.
