    Absolutely Stunning....

Love that scenery! Gpot a firend in Redlands Ca and thats nothing compared to yours...

But If I was Seejay I just go exploring USA with a RV oir like you said a tow trailer....

I´m a boater personally so water has to be near. So my point of view is that you´d like the Midwest and some westerns states.

My wife and I moved from WI to TN a month ago while I was home from Kuwait. Ill tell you one thing about TN, the people are amazingly friendly!! We moved to west TN and my wife is just loving it so far. She is taking pictures of the trees changing and enjoying the mild spring temps for sure! When we drove outa WI there was 10ft snow banks so you can imagine how thrilled we were to get down and see green grass. The house I bought is on an acre and 1500 sq ft and very affordable. I couldnt even dream about owning that much land in Wisconsin without robbing a bank. The cost of living is cheap and unfortunetly so are the wages. Thats one of the reasons I want to get into driving when I get back. But other than that, I love TN and I kick myself for not moving a long time ago lol. Good luck!!

Me too, love the ocean! Only two hours away (Sea of Cortez) from my place in New Mexico. In that area we have Sonoran Desert, Chihuahuan Desert, Mountains, and ocean all within two hours of home.

I completely understand wanting to get away from the high prices and just live a good simple life. We moved to Iowa. Yes Iowa. Everything is very affordable here ESPECIALLY HOUSING. Crime rates are low. I personally enjoy living in a small town and going into the city once in awhile (closest major city is 42 miles from me). BTW I have the most beautiful and productive garden. One of my pride and joys.

You might try Tenn or Ky I have lived in both states most of my live and will stay here in Ky. Both states are great for what your looking for. The gas prices are about the same here as they are there(don't think your getting away from that) I'd just get on the net you can find alot on craigs list they have one in most states. Good luck!

I want to thank everyone for all the great info. While I may not act on it right away, I am storing all of it. Establishing residency in another state is a great idea. Like a trucker, I will hopefully be able to make my living anywhere, as a writer. I have my first book coming out in a few months and another on the table with a publisher who is considering it. With a little luck, I may be able to support myself regardless of area wages, in an area that makes fewer demands of my earnings. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I appreciate it.

id say OREGON is one of the best places to live...you wanna go to the beach its only 2 hours drive...you wanna go snowboard during season its only 1.5hr drive....theres lotta outdoor stuff here from surfing to hunting to gardening to 4wheeling...we also have bunch of indian reservations with hot springs, different waterfalls and whole nine yards...the housing market is a bit higher than some parts of the country...but if you like outdoors as much as we do this is the place to live my fiance loves gardening and oregon has one of the best nursery livestocks in US, we actually bought a house with some land that we are planning on using next year for different nurseries and actually distributing all over US.
