Moving is a good option for the job of a lifetime. He doesn't have that lined up, and his prospects don't seem great. I'd say moving a couple thousand miles away with no plan is off the table.

Then option two you provided is to live in a truck for two straight months, then get ten whole days off to try and remember what having some semblance of a life was like, then go away for another two months.

That's 50 whole days off per year, taken in five chunks where he gets to stare blankly at the wall like Carl from Sling Blade, basically dead from exhaustion.

Come on, man. Those aren't great options. He's got a kid on the way/recently born.

Even if I had the financial means to move I quit Western Express because they had me out for 3-4 months at a time, so completely leaving my new wife and kid in California and relocating to the Midwest alone would obviously be a problem but I couldn't afford to move if I wanted to. I have applied to hundreds of companies and the only offers I have been getting are crap offers. JCT hired me but terminated me a few weeks later because of a letter Dhaliwal gave them about me stealing fuel, abandoning the truck, and a bunch of other lies. I've also been to 2 orientations where they sent me home on my own dime even though I was upfront and honest about what was going on. I don't have enough evidence to fight the claims they are saying about me, I even got an attorney to try and help but I didn't have enough evidence to take them to court. The attorney wrote a cease and desist letter which did absolutely nothing except spark the owner Jassprit to call me from a blocked number and give me death threats. Every company is required to verify employment with Dhaliwal and it is always the companies word over the drivers. A few carriers have agreed to hire me if I can get 6 months to a year of experience accident free with a good conduct record but it doesn't seem possible and at this point I really don't care. I'm tired of going to orientations just to be sent home even though I was upfront and honest or even hired, put in a truck and then brought back to the yard and terminated and have to find a way home. I have a job where I make decent money and I'm not going to take a pay cut to go to some piece of crap second chance company just to continue driving. I am trying to get in to a good career with the kid coming in June i have been looming in to corrections since the central valley is full of prisons and CDCR is hiring like crazy but I'm sure the Dhaliwal crap is going to effect me getting a security clearance but who knows.

Tweak the guy again and record his death threats and report it to the FBI

Glad to see you found a job that suits you better. I agree with recording the threats.

Find a local, family owned outfit where you can speak to the boss man to man (or woman) and explain your situation.

9/10 it will work out for you.

Honestly scraping together whatever’s necessary to move wherever outside of California will probably save you boatloads of money in the long run.

Again I just started a family, I have no interest in leaving them behind to move to another state I know nothing about. If I was single I would have moved back to Arkansas, but life brought me out here and has me settled out here for a while. Plus child support probably more expensive then living in California.

Why? I make the same amount of money not driving a truck and I'm home every night and on weekends. Trucking was never going to be a forever job.

Possible to move the family? Maybe a two bedroom apartment in Nevada perhaps? I’ve heard they have lower living expenses than many places and it wouldn’t be stretch moving right across the state border.
