    Swift won't require boots unless you're going flatbed
    Training pay sucks there. Be prepared.

    Biggest thing that's gonna help you is a good attitude. If you're the type to let a little hang up ruin your day Swift isn't the company for you. If you can get past the little set backs like chasing down the right paperwork and wasting 10-15 minutes a day it really is a fair company to work for. Their size makes them move a little slow sometimes thats all.

    Good to know, I thought steel toes were required at a lot of shippers and receivers. Not that its a company policy for who you work but whos property you are on. Like when you enter a construction area you are expected to wear PPE if not the fines are severe.

    I would assume places like ports etc would require boots when you are out of the truck so either way I'm bringing a pair to be safe. Boots/comfy shoes/sandals to shower is what sounds good.

    Makes me think of the first steel mill I went to. I jumped out of the truck all excited to get my first double coil load in full safety gear. Vest, glasses, hard hat, gloves, boots, all of it.
    Walked in to the shipping office and the guy working looked at me and said "wtf are you wearing all that crap for"
    I'm sure the look on my face was priceless.

    Happens all the time.. BTW did my first super coil today I hate coils with a passion.

    Heard that was a good location also try to get on the refeer fleet that way you can pull a dry van also. I remember when I went to swift they said that was the best way to go because refeer drivers can pull vans but dry van drivers can't pull a refeer when it's slow unless they were trained

    I'm always west I don't think the company I'm with does lumber unless we are In a bad area. But if that did I'll take the lumber load with a tarp in the rain anyday over a 45500 coil haha

    Thanks for the tip did not know that, was thinking reefer would be better anyway as cold items are always moving vs say seasonal items in a van. Got to get that meat from point a to b and eggs etc. :p

    At the Corsicana academy the strickly forbid any type of boot, and require sneakers.

    I keep four pairs of shoes in my truck.

    Ecco sneakers for driving. Open mesh.

    Leather loafer slip on for truckstop ... You want a shoe just for walking thru piss and diesel!!

    Flip flops for shower and hanging out in truck.

    Boots rhino cowboy rubber soles... For drop\hook during foul weather, or bad conditions, docks littered with random debris.

    Keep Clorox wipes, for driver floor board... Change truck stop shoe at driver seat.
