If you are on e-logs do what the company wants, but as,,,,,, always try and save as much time as possible. I only show 15 min on the pretrip. but i flag a 5 min post trip.:biggrin_25519: I do not know if that's possible on the e-logs.

Anyone ever notice that a Post Trip inspection is not required? Read the reg, it states "Post Trip Inspection Report". There is nothing stating that you must do an inspection, after you are done driving. Only that you must complete a report. I butted heads with a Maryland DOT inspector on this one. He lost.

It never ceases to amaze me how experienced drivers that are supposed to know the regulations and have a copy of the "little green book " of FMCSR. Will come to a forum for advice where responses show those giving advice don't have a clue how to comply .
It is true some carriers have requirements above and beyond FMCSR .so you comply with company rules . Simple is that . Pretrip and post trip are exactly that . If you do a drop andhook you do a post trip on the dropped trailer and a pretrip on the hooked trailer .
I don't see any way a post trip with a written report can be done in 5 minutes .

    CAXPT and 123456 Thank this.

sometimes because the book and reality are two different things

I have always marked a 15min pretrip and just flagged a post trip, NEVER ever questioned by any DOT officer

i was taught to do a 15 min pre and post trip, and later found out it wasnt necessary

thats why experienced drivers will sometimes speak from experience and not a book

Does your company use an eDVIR? if so it should be with your macros. Fill that out and send it, it creates an electronic form the office can print out and it counts as you digital signature.
