A pretty good friends of mine is marrying a guy who is a custom baler around home. He claims if the load goes through ANY 3pl that they are taking 25-40% he also says farmers at the biggest Jews which we already know. He says nearly every time they buy hay the transportation is figured up afterwards. I've hauled 2 loads of Hay. 1 from Yankton, SD to the Indianapolis Zoo. Which I thought paid well. And 1 that went 40 miles I got $500 for it. Go to the source of the hay or the farmer buying it is the only way to do it

When TX was going through its drought a couple years back we hauled a few loads down there from a local farmer. When the hay was delivered there were two checks cut. One to us and one to bring back to the farmer. Only way to do it.Last edited: Mar 12, 2014

Well then, US_Armyson, welcome to the boards, and tell your Dad (or Mom) thank you for serving.
CPape, the problem with hay is the farmers that have a few trucks laying around. They have farm plates and don't have the insurance and permits to haul for hire loads. So they'll grab up these hay loads for cheap.
And everything SEEMS okay until something goes wrong... -
I will thank you. If I want to eventually get to heavy haul would flatbed be a good way to climb up to heavy haul? Any info advice is appreciated
