The fact is that lane should have paid double what you got to do it. Justifying the leaving of that much money on the table by saying it as part of a bigger trip doesn't make it any less foolish to leave the money on the table.

Doing that hurts all of us by letting shippers think the going rate should be lower.

Well, the rate I received from SLC to Tucson was low, yes, I agree. The rest of the rates for each stop was no less than $3.72 per mile and as high as $5.18 per mile. I'm uncertain if one leg of my total trip hurt the industry for owner operators like yourself and took money away from you at the same time. I will agree that hauling freight consistently at cheaper rates does set a precedent for shippers and brokers. They will always want the freight to be hauled at the cheaper rate instead of what it commonly pays. Just because we work in the same industry it doesn't guarantee we will be able to negotiate the same rate for freight in a certain area. All we can do is get the best rate possible and accept the load or deny it and look for something else to do.

So far it seems that no one here has had anything good to say. It appears that the best thing to do for this thread is to post a pic with no words or captions and sit back and watch while the complaints roll in.

I enjoy my life in the trucking industry as an owner operator. I get to do what I want and I provide for my family and that's what matters most to me and I do really well at it too .I could only hope that my fellow drivers flourish in this industry.

Tarps?!?!?!?! You are speaking some strange language to me, driver!

I'm sure for longer journeys it gets a tarp, but I took it about 15 miles to our yard.

Finally, a flatbed photo I can finally post without alerting the social media policy dime dropper.
