The only time we haul hay is out of ND, SD, or Northern MN. We tend to stay out of these areas due to limited freight options, but sometimes the price is right or you get 2-3 loads on one truck and you gotta go. We never haul hay for brokers...I have a hard enough time dealing directly with the farmers and hay buyers. I am sure we are not dealing with the best guys, as we don't make a regular practice of it. I have also prohibited any tarps over the top of hay. We have never carried tarps big enough to cover a load, but I won't even allow a top tarp. It is way too big of a liability to have a driver 13+' off the ground. Somebody falls off there and this guy has to explain it to their family. Then I have to try to get work comp insurance next year. If it isn't an easy on easy off no tarp load, I guess we made our money on the way up...time to put it in the wine.

We have a couple connections up there. We haven't been really heavy up there recently. 1-2 per week. Had one driver deliver to a customer out there this week and get a reload right back to the original shipper. Most of my longer runners have been hitting Baltimore every week. Much easier when you don't have to look for something coming back. I am working on a concept to reactivate our brokerage authority and work with some qualified O/Ops where we could pay a good rate. I'll definitely let you know if I get it figured out.

I have a little game. Can anybody tell me at what location this picture is hanging? I will give you a hint. It is east of the Mississippi.
