About a month a half ago I booked a load of warehouse racking that needed tarped from outside Atlanta to Houston. When I got there all the trucks in the line were heading to the same location as me and when it was my turn the loader tells me that I’m lucky because I would be taking the cross bars and not the tall pieces.Secured the load, padded it the best I could and tarped it.When I made it to the receiver the trucks that had the tall pieces had their tarps ripped bad.Mine only had a couple of 6” tears.Never again will I haul racking if it needs tarpedHere’s a pic of one:

Worst load in a long time. I had to put up my 8ft tarps on my own. Actually ran out of pads.....16 altogether. Ended up taking the tarp back off and padding the corners of the boxes with carpet. They were poking out more than what I thought. Took me a little over 5 hours to load and tarp that. Atleast I got to do it inside. Whole load was pretty light. Ran with my axle up.

Looks like a lot of work on that one.

How do you store your pads? I carry 7 and a lot of carpet squares but currently can’t fit anymore unless I start keeping them in the truck.

I saw a couple other trucks leaving with taller racks that were tarped. It was pretty obvious they were not paying for their own tarps. They probably didn’t make it 200 miles before they were trashed.

Take a hammer and beat those corners down, it’s not as good as padding but it sure helps.

That's about right. When I was driving last, I had a headboard with tarp, so I could roll them up like tarps, bungee them and stick them in there, about 10 of them since there was a board across the bottom, so I was able to stick a layer down there, and then put others on top, long bungee across to hold them up and then the new ones were in the truck under the bunk, about another 6 in their package. Got to love Harbor Freight sales. :)

    Lol, I don't blame you. However, where I live.....I can't do without. I carry a set of 8s, 4s, a machine tarp and a smoke tarp.
