Thanks man . I could definitely get used to this equipment hauling. But only done 2 loads so far lol . I'll definitely be buying something when this market comes down. Either truck or trailer or both. I couldn't bring myself to spend the crazy amount of money they want for a new trailer right now

It's fun so far . No more waiting around for the jackhole propane jockey to come get the #### off your trailer , then yell at him for bashing in your rub rail.
-
Lol I'm sure I ain't far away from that . I hate not making money. But sitting home and drinking beer in the pool is nice too.Oxbow, Kyle G., God prefers Diesels and 5 others Thank this.

Aside from it being sometimes tough to find level ground, and product sticking or freezing in the winter my biggest problem is always weight distribution. Loading under a chute with your gauges you can get pretty close, but at the mercy of a loader everything has to be just right on a closed tandem trailer to come out legal on axles. If not you’re shoveling or brake checking to get it to shift. On a spread, unless the loader is just a complete dummy, if you’re 80k or under you’re legal on everything usually. But sometimes the quickness loading/unloading that end dumping is so good for, is lost taking a lot of “scenic routes”.kylefitzy, God prefers Diesels, cke and 4 others Thank this.

Okay, here we go. I found the scale tickets and BOL in my old Pegasus Transtech trip folders. Mind you, I had 150 gal. fuel tanks, and I rarely let it drop below half without filling it back up, so I was always going to be heavier with fuel. I think I dropped tanks one time to keep it good, but that was because the company was good for the fuel. I learned from the first OTR O/O with bouncing checks that I drove for, who kept me waiting on fuel and ran me low enough to run out several times, so I don't haul as a rule, without full tanks.
It's just me.
Anyway. Here's the figures. I had two pickups in Feb 2014 for cable. I'd fueled the day before loading, ran up to get load 1, fueled and scaled went up for load 2, loaded and scaled with essentially full tanks.
1 scaleLoaded
steer: 12,080
drive: 27,160
trailer: 27,500
total: 66,740
2 scale
steer: 11,880
drive: 31,620
trailer: 34,380
total: 77,880
The load:Math: 77,880 lbs
Load 1: 31,675 lb
Load 2: 11,274 lbs
Total: 42,949 lbs
- 42,949 lbs
= 34,931 lbs
Tractor and Trailer, full fuel, dunnage, securement, personal goods and (fat driver
) = 34,931 lbs.. round up 35,000. (I could have had a big lunch)
That trailer was 12,000 lbs on it's own. Notice with full fuel tanks, when the second part of the load got on, it actually lightened the steers. I liked that about that trailer.
I'm getting old, and my eyes and memory are sometimes fuzzy...but that's why I save paperwork.
Here's the tickets below:

You're cheating with that articulated boom. The straight booms are sometimes hard to get the weight in the correct spot.
