    Physically I’m still fine with tarping. We were doing more long distance stuff, Ohio to Florida or Texas and it was load one day, drive two, load maybe reload same day drive two and done. That wasn’t hateful but one of our big shippers started giving us shorter stuff that had better rates. Tuesday is a prime example. Load 0600, drive 1.50 hours, unload, drive back, reload and go 5 hours or so. That translates into tarping or untarping three times in one day. , 4 or 5 times a week. That adds up to a lot of hours. If I can squeeze in one extra load a week by eliminating tarping it’ll pay for itself

    The company that loaded me came to where I scaled it and removed one motor. 1750 mile run, that would be lots of scales to dodge.

    @kranky1 , the rear engine is a 3408 I think, the front should be a 3412.

    I moved a couple of 657G’s to Labrador. They had a C18 in the tractor and C15 in the scraper. I know the old 627 and 632 tractors had 3408’s but I think the 627 had a 3306 in the back.

    I just looked that up. 657E is a bigger machine than a G. 18 to 27L in the tractor and 15 to 18L in the back are pretty big jumps.

    The earlier 627s had 3306s front and back. I think it was the Fs they went to 3406 front 3306 rear.

    How much do you guys think those motors are worth how they are right now? @Oxbow

    I have no idea. I assume they aren't good enough for cores, so probably scrap price. There is probably some parts like fuel filter housings and such that could be sold.
