Thank you. Yeah, it's been a crazy year. Many good things. But also too many irons in the fire. Finally wound down a bit.

Just curious, isn’t the exhaust tip supposed to be covered ? Been told that if it’s not covered and thru transit, air goes in forcing the turbo wheel to spin without oil circulation cause the motor isn’t running………Oxbow, CAXPT, cke and 1 other person Thank this.

That's the explanation I have heard before. The truth is is that it varies from machine to machine. Some people argue that the newer machines it's not necessary. But we just cover them all out of caution.
But what you're seeing isn't the actual exhaust tip.
You have to pop the hood for the lack of a better words to get to it. I have several bags but none will fit on that jumbo-sized stack. So what I do is open the hood and I cover the actual tube underneath. -
I was told the new machines rolling off the assembly line have a plug in them and it burns out after 10 hours and that the stack covers aren’t needed any longer. I still cover the stacks though just in case. It takes 2 min May as well

Older Cat machines are where the biggest risk was. Not much distance between the inlet and exhaust and they didn’t have much in the way of a muffler on them. They’re about the same as the trucks now. They have so much junk in the exhaust I don’t know how they get air through them when they’re running. That said I’ve got sleeves for stacks and covers made up for air cleaners, and like you I still use them.FerrissWheel, Oxbow, shawnhhllc and 4 others Thank this.
