see that orange piece sticking through the side of that brand spanking new tarp? It was fully wrapped in carpet when it came through the tarp after about 100 miles. Sometimes things just don’t work out. In this case light weight tarps work great for the loads they were bought for. This was not that load.

Ouch, yeah it be that way sometimes.
Unfortunate it had to be the lightweights.God prefers Diesels, cke, CAXPT and 5 others Thank this. -
Happens sometimes. Got into a narley cross wind over in Idaho and some pieces ripped thru that still had the duct taped carpet squares around the sharp edges when it came thru the tarp. Learned some new cuss words that day.
I think u did a great job. That's a tough bazterd to tarp right there.God prefers Diesels, cke, CAXPT and 5 others Thank this. -
Whenever I end up with stuff like that I use rolls of old carpet padding. 6' wide x 15-20' long I've found that it helps to support the tarp over a longer distance and the pads are thick enough that they have some good strength in them. That way the tarp isn't trying to support itself over the long span from the low point on the load to the sharp high point.God prefers Diesels, cke, CAXPT and 5 others Thank this.

The rule makes pretty good sense in regard to excavators, backhoes, or other equipment that has the ability to swing or pivot. It is pretty dumb in my opinion as it relates to dozers, rippers, and loader buckets that are not attached via quick couplers. Especially considering that putting one chain on pulling toward the side is actually counterproductive for keeping the load centered.
We put two chains on dozers and loader buckets to balance the pull on the machine. It's overkill unless you need the additional WLL, but at least it provides balanced securement.
Just my 2 cents worth.God prefers Diesels, cke, CAXPT and 11 others Thank this. -
I'm going to steal that idea next time.
We more often get brand new machines that are still in the crate. So it's an issue that doesn't come up terribly much but when it does it's a pain.God prefers Diesels, cke, CAXPT and 4 others Thank this. -
Yeppers, always 2 chains on the bucket.

I owe you and Oldskooler an apology. I went on a rant the other day in another thread about finding your niche. I named names of people who found their niche, and who I had a lot of respect for. I forgot to mention you and Mr. Jim so I sincerely apologize.PoleCrusher, God prefers Diesels, cke and 6 others Thank this.

lol no apology needed/ I seen what you said and agree. I get in where I fit in. Thanks for the compliment.
Funny, I said something to the same effect a while back: people that suck spread their wings and drag #### into everbody else’s bread n butter.
You got more experience than me at life: was it always that you can’t tell pretty much anyone a ####### thing? Or is that a more recent development in people?PoleCrusher, God prefers Diesels, cke and 8 others Thank this. -
A more recent development.PoleCrusher, God prefers Diesels, cke and 6 others Thank this.
