"that could've been fixed during the night" true but I am not paying late night service call. Everyone's situation is different so what works for me may not for you...

Because you asked a question but what you really meant was, "I'm gonna do what I want and nobody can suggest otherwise."
I mean really, you asked why and I gave a valid reason, another driver even backed it up. Not a pissing match, just our advice. In the end, you're going to do what you want. -
I've always shown between 15 and 30 minutes for my pre-trip inspection. My post trip is always flagged, only. I will go from line 3 to line 1, unless I find something "broken, missing, loose, or leaking," on the truck, or trailer, then I will show 15 mins on line 4.

I was told the reason for the post trip, even though your going to do a pretrip was that if you did no post trip, when you did your pretrip just before your run & found something wrong, you would be tempted to just go with out it being corrected as to not be delayed, but if you found something on your post trip, you would be more likley to have it taken care of, because you would not be pressed for time.

I have always used 15 min for pre & post. my co said I could flag it, but I figured if I spend 15 min I might as well log it. hate to crunch the time. never know when I may get into a wreck, any fatality in a wreck & the d.o.t. & lawyers will go over every log page with a fine tooth comb & could question the 15 min flag used but not in a mathematical way of determining your timeline.
