I worked across the street from UPS in West Columbia SC back during the '97 strike. It looked like San Francisco. Drivers pushing their entire life around in shopping carts, living in a tent city. We'd throw the bones from our chicken wings out the window and watch them fight one another just to get something to eat. Sad for sure. Some were living in their Escalades, it seemed.

Cross a picket line at your own peril. There's the day of the strike...but then there's every day after that, too. I certainly wouldn't forget. If the hat were being passed around for you later on in life, I'd gladly take a few bucks out of it and wave a middle finger at you.Banker Thanks this. -
