You can’t make comments like that here without a bunch of teamsters attempting to defend their manhood.
They’ll show you their paycheck, but we know they’re miserable

I absolutely love my job.Lumper Humper and De Trucker Thank this. -
It had nothing to do with corruption. Or the fact that UPS pulled out and didn’t have to pay penalties?
All Wall Street and the governments fault -
Nope it had nothing to do with either. UPS pulled out because it was already failing.
Corruption is why the government took it over. But, that was back in the early 80s.
Sadly the fund was in better hands of the mob than Wall St.
Some of the same institutions that managed the fund were the same ones who were exposed for being big contributors to destroying the economy in 08.
And on top of that UPS paid $6 billion into the fund for leaving.Bean Jr. and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
Seems like someone is talking through something other than their pie hole. Most union guys I know are mostly older, like me. Don't know to many miserable ones even though I know many and most of the union guys I know do work hard. You must know something. What is the purpose of even posting a paycheck stub. WHO CARES? For me it was not just about the pay, even though that's a huge part of employment. Compensation is more than just money in the pocket.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

I would say corruption was the root cause. Had they not been in bed with the mafia it would have never gone to the government. And ups and a few others wouldn’t have pulled out.
So I think you can blame leadership for that.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
teamsters that aren’t miserable are most likely in the circled range. They just don’t know any betterJubal Early Times Thanks this. -
I agree corruption was the reason action had to be taken.
But that was also 40+ years ago. That 40 years after is when the pillaging really began.
And the culprits didn't get indited. They got bailed out with taxpayer money instead.
So I stand with my opinion that the government did the right thing by fixing it.LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
Truer words were never spoken. Oh well, there probably was. Many times. Thank you for letting me know how I'm really unhappyDe Trucker and LtlAnonymous Thank this.
