I kills me when I see someone on this forum talk about how bad a job with seniority is and they aren’t working there. They don’t want any part of it because they have no seniority. I guarantee when they are 20-30 years older they will appreciate that seniority.
It's not like it even took that long. Ten months of seasonal work to get hired. Two years of hilarious poverty. Another year to get a bid. Another year to get to scale. 90k. 110k. 120k. 150k this year. Two rough years, and then... I'm good! I can understand impatience, but...come on.
Mine wasn't it was a motivation to see what you can get outside of this industry by a person that used to be in the industry. Some guy called me obnoxious lol. Glad to see people making money out there instead of sitting in docks for free.Yall work too many dam hours for what y'all get paid :salutes:
Well yeah, it's obnoxious to talk about how good you have it, then "salute" people for working more hours than you. Hope you got outta crypto in time. :salutes:
No doubt. I’m just saying something it’s easy to not see the forest for the trees. The old me can recognize it, but the younger more brash me would have had a hard time. Young me was impatient.
When I was 20 I worked in a shop of a major LTL carrier. I was making 11.50 an hour. Working 3rd shift and not doing any of the glorious mechanic work. I quit and moved on. It’s all worked out and I wouldn’t trade jobs with any of you. But with that said. If I had stayed I would be in my 23rd year going on 24th. Have a fully formed 401k probably be making 40 bucks an hour and probably running the parts room or the shop and going home at 3 pm everyday. It was dumb for me to have quit that job and I was too dumb to realize it at the time.
this has been me 100%. Had 3 kids before 24, one at 19, another at 21, and another at 23. Thankfully everywhere I’ve worked in trucking, the seniority has been schedule/load based not pay based. I don’t care what you can pay me 3 years from now, if the other company is paying more right now then 9 times out of 10 I’m following the money. I’ve been the sole income for my family since I was 19 (28 now). That will change in the next couple years which will be nice in a way. I get the whole seniority thought, but I truly never would have gotten into trucking if I couldn’t make decent money immediately, which I did.
Life is about decisions and America is a free market democracy. You will work for what's acceptable to you and a business can charge/pay what they think they can. Currently both parties aren't happy..lol
