I would love to pull an RGN, but I would prefer to stick with 5 axles.

A good freind of mine pulls a rgn 4 axle pete and a 4 axle rgn with that 4th axle being a flip he is plated for 120,000 truck and trailer empty is 40,000lbs if it's heavy he can permit for more weight if he needs yes he makes good money but he stays parked a lot
He was doing army loads from the port of Beaumont to hooks,tx (red river army depot) it's 265 miles pays him $1,400 legal width I make $1,000 on my step same loads I haul loads back for $600 he has to dead head back
He does way more parking lot waiting than I would ever want too do. when I do 12ft wide loads I can never find a place to park that's why I don't do many he said he needs to be parked no later than 4:pm I still drive 4 hours longer a day than him

Guess it depends on the company. I have an 8 axle, 3 on the trailer plus a stinger & 4 on my tractor. I am leased onto a good company that I never sit. In fact, I have yet to deadhead at all. Most are reloads from where I drop. While I am not a fan of posting my gravy, I can tell you I logged not over 1,000 miles, worked 4 days this week and had many thousands to the truck.

The company I'm leased to is not huge, but 100% of all their freight is all direct. I hear you about parking, rolled into the Flying J in St Augustine, FL Thursday at 7pm. No place to park, backed my 8 axles up the old scale ramp and parked there. No fun:biggrin_2556:

Demo, I have never dealt with anything heavier than 105k gross in a roll-off (illegally) and I would want to learn a little on 5 axles or so before I went to that big stuff like you do.

My last light load OS was 57000 for the load itself and ran day and night, just depends on the permit, state agency and local regulations. Any state will let you run until 1/2 before sunset with a Cinderella permit, some will let you go 1/2 hour before and after sunrise and sunset. I make very good money just as a driver, heck with regular loads they pay nothing compared to my oversize pay.

Local construction company is how I started, get two years in and places will hire you with a good DL and no accidents.

I am not saying some people set, but my down time is asked for. I run like a money on fire and wish I had down time, maybe he is not looking hard because as of 10 am Arizona time there was 47 loads he could have hauled setting on the load board.

I do not doubt what you are saying but if someone is motivated the loads are out.

I remember those days.... ran rolloff as well. Remember one load i pulled on the scale at the landfill and the woman came running out of the scale house yelling at me to get off the scale. She said her scale was maxed out at 100k and it started flashing... That was back in 93' I got my start locally as well.

Yep, I hauled flyash from a trash burner, the Autocar front wheels would stand up 2 feet off the ground to get under it and had to back up while winching it up. LOL
