You need an extra axle or two just for the weight of those chains.

Bet it was fun carrying those back there how many axles are you running with that many thick chains? Sorry to hear about how your day started passingthru69 hope you get your truck fixed soon and quick. And cluck cluck he was the same way no more crushed cars. Pretty sure theres still tranny fluid on his trailer. Theyre definitely a pita and you wont see them on my trailer. Might have some railroad machine on there saturday morning though just have to work the rate out. Ill post a pic if i manage to get that one.

For my companies bridge work. I've used 20 2 inch straps (carried on the truck) and 10 3/8th chains (also carried on the truck) on one load (flatbed). Been close with 12 chains used, and 10 straps on another. I just wish I would have remembered to take pictures, of those type of loads.

I always carry 20-25 2 inch straps full rack of chains and binders on the truck. Lowboy has 2 3/8 chains, and 8 1/2 chains, with now 12 1/2-5/8 binders.

Used to own a 13 axle setup. Now just doing 7.
The reason for the chains is not so much the weight. only 72k, but it's a stretch ld and sitting on the back deck also.
I have blocking in the front and in the middle to keep the sag out of the building.
So I have extra chains helping keep down pressure on the blocks and also to keep the deck from sagging..
