The chain runs down through the rubrail and hooks on the bottom flange, then I guess he snapped the binders on.

If you are going to hook to the frame rails, you need to go all the way under to the opposite frame rail. The way he has it, it's pulling the rails away from each other and will cause damage to the rails. To be honest, it's better to hook to a frame rail that's rated for 80k as compared to a rub rail that's rated for maybe 6k

Its stupid to put it like that with anything. like I said, I've seen the mexicans bring stuff over like that, only reason i can see them being allowed is because our yard is literally half mile from border, but still...doesnt the crap go through DOT before it passes? ....

I mean, putting straps and chains down there leaves them open to be hit by road debris and such....its just stupid. I've even seen some other Melton drivers hooking their straps to the frame.

  8. Wow maybe I should drop my load of digital road signs down by mexico saying watch for bad load securement.

You'd have a lot of trouble getting the chains tight enough they would be putting more tension on the side of the trailer then on the load.

I tried telling a Horton driver why it was bad and improper to chain to the frame like that. He had one big coil and kept cranking those chains tighter and tighter. He says Horton teaches them to do it that way. I couldn't talk sense to this guy.
