Question for you seasoned Independent O/O’s out there.
If you are looking at the load boards for a load in your preferred lanes. If the rate is above the 15 day average. Do you still go in for more money? I personally like going after loads where rates aren’t posted. I seem to do better that route. But I’m asking to see if I can learn a little something today.

What he said. Your job is the raise that 15 day because God knows there’s people lowering it.

That's situation dependent. If your phone is blowing up when you post your truck in that location then you've got the leverage to get more money. If their phone is blowing up with carriers wanting the load they do and maybe that rate gets cut. Posted rates are an anchor point. The idea there on the broker's part is to keep you in line with that number or as close to it as possible and more often than not that's exactly what ends up happening.

Always go for more. If it's already a good bit above market avg they usually don't budge too much but it's still worth asking.

If a lot of people are calling maybe don't ask for more cause it gets covered super fast cause some of the posted rates are really good it just depends on the situation

I like keeping the brokers in the line of people who can go #### themselves. While they’re doing that, I’ll go find some freight to put on my truck that some clown with no truck hasn’t got the money out of already.

Why are you letting a load board dictate your rates? Who exactly is running your business? You already know what your rate is so why not continue to raise it? Otherwise you risk letting bottom feeders drag you down to their level.

As a rule of thumb, alway ask for more. Worst they can say is no.

Your a fool if you don't ask. Its worth the 5 seconds of my time....every time! If they say no, you can either take it or move on.....your choice.
