Here’s a video of the play in the shaft. He’s telling that should not happen and the leaking is a result of that. Replacing the seal won’t do anything for the leak with the amount of play here, which is why I need to replace the power divider. Thoughts on that?

I can't open the video but yeah if there is excess play in the shaft a new seal won't last long. Fix the slop or replace power divider. If its got a lot of miles I'd just replace
ibcalm19 Thanks this. -
Right unless the housing is cracked but that was not stated

Coming out of that cover or above it?
Can you post a better picture? -
Excess is what I am not sure of. Is any play too much or is there an acceptable tolerance?
Can you try the video again? If won’t work, I’ll post some place else. -
I’m getting the truck back from him on Thursday. I’ll get more pics. I drove the truck for about 30 mins today and there wasn’t any dripping happening.

I like replacing parts before they leave me stuck on the side of the road. [/QUOTE]

Just forget about it and drive the thing then. Just keep an eye on the oil level. It will probably look a lot worse than it actually is.
There isn't supposed to be much play on the input or output shafts. Just enough to barely feel is okay but more than that is sign of something wore outGix1k and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
Is it full of oil?
