Thanks. I was wanting to make coffee. All I need it for, but will spring for a permanent one.

I got one of those power strip types a couple years back for charging a cell phone and a small battery charger since I only had a single power jack in the truck. Stupid thing just went bad on me, and the fuse was still good when it broke. Won't be getting one of those ever again. I'm gonna spring for something that can power a small toaster oven or charge a small laptop occasionally, like an 1800w pure sine wave unit that can take on a reasonable amount of work. That ought to handle the small things that I need to run occasionally.

The most important thing with installing an inverter is WIRE SIZE. at such a low voltage, 12v, you need a TON of current to make 120v. So a 3000w inverter has the ability to draw 400a. So 4 runs of 4o or 2 runs 2o cable and a 400a fuse at the battery end. I used 4o and doubled it as its just easiest to use and I had it here. I've seen inverters wired up with battery jumper cable wire used and it will melt and burn your truck down. Be careful.

As the old saying goes in car audio, you can't run a river through a straw.

    Elroythekid Thanks this.

Fortunately, most inverters are very near the batteries. But even my shop ran 4 gauge, but no fuse protection. At least when they cut the hole they protected the wire with a piece of heater hose, but no clamp. If I were judging, it would have failed.

Have an AIMS unit as well. Use a surge protector strip. Works fine.
