Really? No relation? You can't be that dumb can you? Next time you go home take a look at your electrical panel and tell me the 15 amp, 20 amp, 40 amp, etc. circuit breakers have no relation to wattage! Example of relation. You have a 15 amp circuit breaker. The max wattage you can run on that breaker without problems is 1800 watts. 15amps X 120volts = 1800watts. Rule of thumb is to only use 80% of that which would be 1440 watts.

Exactly. For example, if your tv says it draws 1.5 amps you're going to need at least 180 watts to power it. And even that'd be dangerous. You'd only want to use about 80% of your total wattage to avoid popping breakers or causing a fire.

Lol it's basic physics. P=IE or Power (in watts) = I (current in amps) x E (voltage in volts). E = IR (Resistance in ohms). Been that way for years. :)

One of the companies I'm planning to run with doesn't allow inverters to be clipped or bolted to the battery. My recruiter said that they use 1500 watt inverters that plug into the cigarette lighter. Can one of those sockets actually supply that much juice? I've tried to find inverters like that online, but anything over 400w seems to be battery connects only.

He either misspoke or he lied. To be honest I would recommend you not go to the company that doesn't allow inverters. I have driven for both kinds of companies and I can tell you that I would never drive for a company that doesn't allow them again. Just having a microwave in the truck increases quality of life. The other reason is because there is no valid concern when it comes to inverters. Probably a third of trucks on the road have inverters and shockingly they don't burn to the ground every night. A properly installed inverter is no more dangerous than an electrical short starting a fire, meaning extremely rare. So if a company can't see how ridiculous this issue is then why reward them with your time?

Do they charge you for the shop to install it ? What's the largest inverter they allow you to have ?

I run my 19 inch TV and a blue ray player off a small 500 watt inverter...
The PS4 will pull more power than the TV though....

My 1800 watt inverter will run everything but I only use it for the microwave.

I have installed it in several trucks. Just make sure it is fused at the battery.
