So I got into a new Cascadia the other day. It's a 2019 that came with a dash mount for the CB. When I plugged and wired the coax up, got a lot of static coming through. Did some YouTube research (as well as here) and the best solution I can come up is wiring the CB directly to the battery.
Kind of a newbie at this so any suggestions, help etc on the best way to do this will be welcomed.

Connect to power leads at the main fuse box behind the passenger dash.

Newbie at hooking up a CB, or Newbie at using one?

CB's have some static sound when you turn them on...not like a cell phone...

The most important thing, no more than 6 inches from the power source before you fuse it, to be safe fuse pos and neg. The battery is always the best source, not the easiest. Open the glove box, pull out the liner and there is a fuse block with direct battery hook ups, If you dont know what your doing check with your company mechanic first.

I mounted antenna on back of cab, the upper s/s bar where the cable hose springy things slide left to right. Ran my own coax under cab and thru firewall up to radio. This set up got me nothing! Took it to cb shop, they ran their coax thru cab and hooked it up to my cb. They did change my crap antenna and I have had really good radio performance since. They did a really nice job as I can't see the coax at all except for the ends of course. This cost me about $125 and a little over an hour.
My truck is a 17' Cascadia.

Yeah on the 16 i had it was across the top of the sun visor(my stryker was a lil to big to keep in the cubby hole)behind the astics of the pillar down to floor and out the firewall..Then up behind the plastics where signal light is to top of upper door hinge and out to mirror arm ant mount..Not alot different to the 19 i have now..
On my 19 i still didnt like my radio up top so now its dash mounted with a slightly coax routeing..
