7 days... 7 x 24 = 168 hrs at work
6 nights... 6 x 8 = 48 hrs sleeping
168 - 48 = 120 hrs paid
120 x 14.55 = $1746.00 for 1 week
That means I take home roughly $1k a week after taxes... Which is almost double what the average income is around where I live. This also doesn't take into account extra stop pay, monthly bonus, lay over pay, ECT.

You really should be on O/T after just 8 hours.
-
Bahaha nope.
Cuz they’ll bring the clocks out to the job site. And make you punch out when you go to bed.
Some people protest too much for their own good.
I’m just sayinCattleman84 Thanks this. -
Depends on the state... Many western states you dont get OT until you have over 40 hrs in 1 calender week... What day the week starts on is determined by the state... In Idaho the week starts on Sunday morning at 00:00 and ends exactly 7 days later.

It's very common. Your actual mileage could be as much as 20% depending on where you went.
In today's age of GPS etc that form of billing and payroll of HHG etc are obsolete.
I do not recall being paid actual miles ever. -
it's supposed to be from zip code to zip code along the shortest route so any miles that you have within a zip code is not paid most times the interstate is not the shortest route. 20% unpaid miles should be rare if ever unless you are driving out of your way to get on a good road ... 10 % is common every once in awhile you can get more but not very often

As a CPM company driver, my hub miles are 3-4% more than my paid miles, depending on the quarter. They also add 20 miles when unload city and reload city are the same. Not every company will do this, I'm just presenting this to add some balance to the other side. This 20% nonsense just isn't happening anymore unless you're driving way OOR intentionally or it's a very short distance from the opposite side of one big city to the far side of a nearby suburb. I don't think anybody is using the old HHMG miles anymore.
Truckermania and drumchaos Thank this. -
YIKES you think $14.55 is good pay? How long have you been out if high school and not living at mom and dad's? I ask because I was making $10 an hour back in 1988. I was paying my helpers (in the moving business) $15 per hour back in 2000.
Try raising a family on that. -
if you have 6 months experience you should be at least 20.00 and up from there .....

I know guys working alot harder for alot less in a week... I used to be one of them. I been on my own for over 15 years, my wife is a stay at home mom to our 2 children.
My previous job I got paid more per hour, but not as many hours paid. I make twice as much now as I did then. And it was ALL hard physical labor.lovesthedrive, Truckermania and InTooDeep Thank this.
